Dear Secondary School Families, 

It is hard to believe that we are mid-way through the academic year, and that 2023 is coming to a close. This semester has been full of wonderful things- from fun events, service projects, and field trips to parent education. We have enjoyed making connections with students and families. Most recently, on December 1st, we hosted Upper Elementary students on our campus. We studied natural versus artificial food coloring- students mixed their own frosting with natural food dye and decorated cookies, they did chlorophyll transfers, and also used natural dyes to create their own wrapping paper. Secondary students supported primary school students in these activities, and did a great job guiding them as peer mentors. Next Friday, December 8th, we will have a Shadow Day for prospective students new to our school to give them a little sample of what Inclusive Montessori education looks like at Elizabeth Academy Secondary. Tell your friends! We can’t wait to meet them. 

The following week, from December 11th-15th, we will have our annual Service Week. We encourage both students and parents to get involved and be inspired by the spirit of giving by participating in the various service projects available during that week. We are also encouraging families to bring socks for our sock drive- these socks will help those in need stay warm during the coldest months of the year. 

On December 14th, we invite you all to join us at the Primary School (2870 Connor St) for our Love and Light event from 5:30pm-7:00pm, which will include a performance from our Secondary student Rock Band, and Microeconomy students featuring the products they have created. Stock up on handmade cards, jewelry, felt decorations, and more! We hope to see you there!

As a reminder, the semester ends on the 15th of December. Grades will close on that day. Winter recess will start December 18th and school will resume on January 2nd. Report Cards will be processed the first week of January, and will be delivered on the 5th of January. Make sure to check grades this week, and begin working towards closing out the semester. 

Looking forward to next semester, we look forward to having new Friday electives and new clubs! One of our traditional clubs, Ski Club, will begin that first week back from Winter Recess.
