Dear Elizabeth Academy Secondary Community,

WOW, what a whirlwind the start of school has been! Our school year got kick started by our annual trip to Camp Oakley. Students had a wonderful time connecting with new and old friends, getting to know teachers, and engaging in a variety of activities including bracelet making, shelter building, geocaching, hiking, and more. Now that we are back on campus, we are settling into the routine of school again- we are conducting our beginning of the year STAR testing in reading and math, forming school clubs, and reviewing other expectations and routines around the school.

There are always exciting and fun things to look forward to on the secondary campus… We are excited to offer clubs this school year! We are asking students to petition to create their own clubs that are either athletic, academic, or arts focused. To petition for a club, please fill out the following form: Club Petition. Additionally, we already have some approved clubs to participate in- including the SLCC’s Grand Youth Theater Club- which will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30pm-4:30pm. Ski Club will take place on Fridays starting January 5th from 1:00pm-3:00pm (more details to come). Additionally, 7th and 8th grade students have the opportunity to participate in MMUN (Montessori Model United Nations), which will culminate in a trip to New York City in February! For more details on pricing, etc, please check out this powerpoint. For additional questions- Please contact Alice Pope (alice.pope@elizabethacademy.com), or sign up today by filling out THIS FORM!

Later this month is our annual Welcome Back Picnic will be on Thursday, September 21st starting at 5:30 pm at the Primary School campus on Connor Street. We will be gathering as a whole school community and the picnic will include a benefit for those impacted by the fires in Lahaina, Hawaii. At “Love for Lahaina”, there will be a bake sale, a booth of student-made crafts, and a viewing of Disney’s Moana in the Black Box Theater! Additionally, please remember that there is no school for students the next day due to a teacher work day on Friday, the 22nd of September.

We have thoroughly enjoyed building our blossoming community over the past few weeks. We are adjusting to a new name, new leadership, and a new school year. We have many new opportunities beyond clubs (including Ski, Montessori Model United Nations, Theater, etc)  and Student Council- we will also have our SPRING TRIPS resume this April! From Monday, April 8th-Wednesday April 10th, our high school students will have the opportunity to go to Catalina Island Marine Institute- heading to Tonyon Bay on Catalina Island, California to explore marine life, biology, and more! Middle School students will have the opportunity to visit Rock n’ R Ranch in Antimony, UT, where there will be a variety of activities and outdoor experiences in Southern Utah. Students who prefer not to go on these trips can opt to remain on campus and have the opportunity to enjoy fun, hands-on learning experiences with local field trips planned during regular school hours. Please fill out the following survey to help us prepare for these trips and provide you with the information you need in order to get the best experience for our students.
