Dear Elizabeth Academy Secondary School Families,

This past month has given us some opportunities to gather and appreciate our "spooktacular" community. It was fun to see our annual Monster Mash transform and impact the greater community in such a beautiful way. Over 100 guests joined us at the Museum of NaturalLife at Thanksgiving Point, representing Elizabeth Academy Secondary School students and alumni, students from other Montessori Secondary schools from throughout the Wasatch Front, and young adults from the special needs community. A special thank you to Thanksgiving Point, and our founder- Gail Williamsen, for making this a night to remember! Additionally, we enjoyed seeing our first student-council run event- Dracula’s Bash! The students did an amazing job creating an event inspired by the community’s hub book: “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. We applaud our student leaders, our rock band performers, and our teachers who made this event possible.

This month, we are looking forward to more community gatherings and engagement. The week of November 13th-17th is National Anti-Bullying Week. At Elizabeth Academy Secondary, we will celebrate “Unity Week '', where the Student Council is organizing a Spirit Week in tandem with a curricular focus on Unity and Inclusion. On Thursday, November 16th, at 6:00pm, we will host a Parent Education Night focused on Navigating Teen Social Dynamics, and promoting unity and inclusion on our campus. This Parent Education Night will count toward your family service hours- so please plan to attend!

This year, for our Harvest Sharing, we will be hosting a “Lunch and Litter Pick Up” event at Wasatch Hollow on Tuesday, November 21st. We invite parents and community members to join us for hot chocolate at 9:00am to kick-off the event. We will participate in a community clean up event in Wasatch Hollow. We will then enjoy a lunch prepared by our students in the park to end the morning. After lunch, students may leave with their parents - our official dismissal time is  at 12:45pm. We will have our Thanksgiving break from Wednesday, November 22nd- Friday, November 24th.

As questions arise, feel free to contact us! We look forward to another great month!

Warm Regards,

Nate Abbott and Sofia Rigolon
